Bank of Lancaster Announces Promotion27-Jul-2011
Bank of Lancaster President and Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth O. Bransford, Jr., announced that Vice President, Senior Operations and MIS Officer Ricky B. Varnier has been elected by the Board of Directors to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Varnier has over 26 years of banking and mortgage-related technology, operations and production management experience, including branch teller and platform systems development, systems configuration, process engineering, project management and resource management.
Prior to joining Bank of Lancaster, the majority of Varnier’s career was with a large regional bank in Richmond. Over the years, Varnier served as Programmer Analyst, Branch Teller Systems Development Team Manager, Technology Project Manager, and Production Support Manager supporting Mortgage Document Delivery, and Bank Operations and Technology Manager. Varnier stated, “I feel extremely fortunate to work at Bank of Lancaster with a great group of individuals in an environment that is both challenging and exciting.”
As Bank of Lancaster’s Vice President and Senior Operations and MIS Officer, Varnier managed daily production operations and technology staff activities, and facilitated execution of an operational roadmap outlining tactical and strategic initiatives. As Chief Operating Officer, Varnier will assume leadership of Deposit Operations, Information Systems, Privacy, Security, Couriers and Facilities Management.
Varnier is a native of Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Old Dominion University and his Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Varnier is a member of Morattico Baptist Church where he teaches an adult Sunday school class. He is also a member and President- elect of the Rotary Club of the Northern Neck.
Varnier and his wife Pam reside in Northumberland County. They have two grown children, Nathan and Sally, and three grandchildren, Emma, an eight year-old, Brandon, a three year-old, and Reese, a one year-old.
