Bank of Lancaster Presents Northumberland Middle School with Banner
15-Apr-2011
Go for the Gold Bank, the school bank at Northumberland High and Middle Schools, is completing its first full year of operation this school year. In partnership with Bank of Lancaster, the Northumberland school bank made history as the first educational endeavor of its kind in Northumberland County and only the second school bank to be opened in the Northern Neck.
The school bank is operated by student tellers, student managers and student marketing associates and is supervised by Bank of Lancaster personnel. “Financial literacy is very much a part of what we do as community bankers,” states Hazel Farmer, who directs the Bank’s consumer education efforts. “We are so pleased to partner with Northumberland in the school bank program, which has been endorsed by both the American and Virginia Bankers Associations. Our State and local educators are also in agreement with us as bankers that helping young people understand how to manage their money is crucial to helping them become vital, productive, responsible citizens. Together we truly feel we can make a difference in the lives of these young people.”
Bank of Lancaster was proud to present Northumberland Middle School with a “Go for the Gold” banner. The logo for the bank was designed by the high school bank’s marketing associates.
