Bank of Lancaster Promotes Judy Sydnor03-May-2012
Sydnor was raised in Richmond County and is a graduate of Rappahannock High School. She has furthered her education through Rappahannock Community College and various bank-related classes, to include the Virginia Bankers Association’s Manager Certification program.
Her career in banking began with the Bank of Montross, where she was a bookkeeper and proof operator, and later with Bank of Virginia/Signet as a head teller. In February of 1998, when Bank of Lancaster acquired the Montross and Warsaw Offices, Sydnor was promoted by Bank of Lancaster to the Operations Supervisor and in 2004 to the Client Service Manager.
Sydnor is a member of the Bank’s “Lighthouse Keepers,” which is a group of co-workers who have 25 or more years of service to the Company or industry and their primary function is to mentor new co-workers. She has also served on several staff committees, including helping to set customer service standards for the Company and the Americans With Disabilities Task Force. Sydnor is also one of the Company’s most avid financial literacy teachers, going into classrooms and promoting both the Virginia Bankers and American Bankers programs about “Teach Children to Save” and “Get Smart About Credit.” For many years she has also been involved with Cople Elementary “Sponsors for Success.” The Company has a strong commitment to financial literacy, and Sydnor has reached thousands of children during her long tenure with the Bank.
Active in her community, Sydnor is a very proactive member of the Bank’s Relay for Life team. She is an active member of the Richmond County Company #3 Auxiliary and has served as secretary and vice president. She is a member of the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce, having served as treasurer; and she is a past treasurer of the RCLL. An active member of Newland Church for Christ, she also serves as Church secretary.
In making this announcement, Greene stated the Bank’s management and its Board of Directors feel fortunate to have Judy as a part of the Bank’s family. Greene noted, “Judy is committed to our Company’s philosophy of service excellence and her vision and leadership abilities are an asset to not only our Montross office, our financial literacy programs, but to our Company as a whole. We are extremely pleased to have her on this team.”
