Bank of Lancaster Celebrates Its Award-Winning Website

Completed last year, Bank of Lancaster’s website was submitted to WSI’s (We Simplify the Internet) Marketing Awards competition, competing against sites from around the world. As the global leader in digital marketing strategies, WSI is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario and is comprised of over 1,000 consultants from over 90 countries around the globe. At their 2011 Excellence & Innovation Conference this year the Bank of Lancaster project earned third runner up for “Excellence in an End Client Internet Marketing Solution”.

Bank of Lancaster recently redesigned their website and chose to work with a former community banker, turned Internet Consultant, Eric Cook of WSI Internet Consulting. In addition to 15 years of hands-on banking experience, Cook was already and award-winning developer, earning a WebAward from the Web Marketing Association for one of his first bank projects. “It’s this expertise of not only knowing banking, but understanding how to better position us on the Internet that led us to select Eric and the team at WSI for our site project,” stated Kylie Bransford, Vice President of Marketing for the bank.

“Considering the number of sites that are created by WSI consultants around the world, to even be nominated was an honor,” says Cook. The voting was held entirely by peer review, and it wasn’t until the conference when the final results were revealed. “There were a lot of great sites submitted, but the Bank of Lancaster project was well-deserved of the recognition. Working together with the bank, we implemented many features that you won’t find in other bank sites.”

During last year, Bank of Lancaster’s website also received front-page recognition by the newsletter Internet Banking Growth Strategies. The newsletter heard about the bank’s new site and some of the new features such as the online calendar image gallery, online education center and collection of financial calculators (to name a few), and decided to make it a feature story.

“We continue to receive positive comments about our site,” says Bransford. “Customers like how easy it is to navigate and find information and the community likes the calendar images. They really show what it’s like to live in the Northern-Neck area and what makes our area special.”
