Bank of Lancaster Welcomes Bill Johns

Bank of Lancaster President and Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth O. Bransford, Jr., announced that William L. Johns has been elected by the Board of Directors to the position of Vice President, Senior Lending Officer.

Johns has over 31 years of banking experience, having started his banking career as a Bank Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

For 16 years, Johns, as President and CEO, successfully led a community bank headquartered in the Northern Neck. During his presidency, he increased total assets by 200% with a strong emphasis on profitable growth. This resulted in consistently higher, record earnings per share and dividends for its shareholders. Johns was the youngest bank president in Virginia from 1994 to 1997.

For the past three years, Johns has performed bank consulting services in various capacities for two regional financial institutions.

Johns received both his Masters of Business Administration and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Richmond.

Johns also attended the School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia and the University of Maryland School of Banking. He is a past director of the Virginia Association of Community Banks; past board director of Bankers Title of Fredericksburg; and past chairman and executive committee member of Community Bankers’ Bank – Richmond.

Johns, a long time resident of Warsaw, is a Director with Richmond County Industrial Authority, member and past president and treasurer of the Warsaw Rotary Club, and past board director for Rappahannock Community College in Richmond County.

Johns states that he feels fortunate to work for Bank of Lancaster, an organization that focuses so much emphasis on community involvement.

Johns and his wife Susan reside in Warsaw. They have two daughters, Margaret and Courtney and a son William. All three graduated from Rappahannock High School. His two daughters graduated from the University of Virginia and his son will be starting there in the fall.

In making this announcement, Bransford stated, “we are very fortunate and proud to have Bill as a member of our Bank of Lancaster family. With his great wealth of knowledge and experience, Bill will be an asset to our community and to our organization as we seek to provide the products and services that our community desires. As Senior Lending Officer, Bill will provide leadership over our Bank’s Commercial and Residential Lending activities. We are proud to have Bill on our team.”
