Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust Company, affiliates of Bay Banks of Virginia, recently enjoyed hosting a Retiree Luncheon, which was held at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club in Kilmarnock.

Bank Senior Vice President Hazel Farmer welcomed the retirees; and in her opening remarks, Farmer thanked this group of dedicated community bankers for their years of commitment to service and community. This group, Farmer noted, laid a solid foundation on which Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust Company stand today. Farmer stated, “Not all of our retirees could be with us today but the 29 who are here represent 589 years of service! If all 45 could be present, this amazing group would represent 809 years of service.” On behalf of the Bank and Trust Company, Farmer noted, “We owe each of you our gratitude. Your dedication to Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust Company put us on a successful journey, one we continue to enjoy even in today’s difficult economic environment. But just as our forefathers did when the Bank’s doors opened in 1930, and what you did during your tenure, it is our goal each and every day to meet the financial needs of our friends and neighbors whom we feel so privileged to serve. And today we rightfully honor you and remember your history with us.”

Also on hand to celebrate with the retirees was Bay Banks and Bank of Lancaster President & CEO Randal Greene, who gave an update on the Company and the banking world today.

Special recognition was given to the Company’s newest retirees, who either retired in 2011 or early 2012: Ken Bransford, Agnes Clark, Margaret Curtis, Jean Edwards, Nancy Foster, Linda Hall, Debbie Saunders, Jerry Scott, Nancy Thrift and Gloria Wohleking. Moments of silence were held for retiree Jean Syrett, who lost her daughter Robin to cancer recently; and for retiree Nina Thompson, who recently lost her husband Dick.

Farmer stated that as always, it was a wonderful afternoon of fellowship that included a delicious meal prepared by the Club, the sharing of memories, and much laughter.
