Bay Banks of Virginia Honors the 2010 Employee of the Year

Bay Banks of Virginia, Inc., holding company for Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust Company, held its annual Christmas Party at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club in Kilmarnock for employees, spouses and guests.

During the evening, President & CEO Austin L. Roberts, III announced the Company’s 2010 Employee of the Year: Ronald H. Whitt.

Each year, the employees select a co-worker whom they feel has gone beyond the call of duty to be helpful to fellow employees and to customers, one who exemplifies professionalism, supports community, and is an overall asset to the organization and its mission. Whitt was honored by his co-workers as the 2010 recipient of this recognition.

Whitt joined the Bank in June 2009. He is the Facility Manager and is responsible for all of the Bank’s buildings and properties. In making the announcement, Roberts remarked to Whitt that “in just over a year, you have made quite an impression on your fellow bankers. The recognition you have received speaks to your dedication, your commitment to service excellence to both your internal and external customers, and these wonderful qualities are recognized and greatly appreciated.”

Prior to joining the Bank, Whitt was a construction supervisor for a Richmond commercial contractor for the past 43 years responsible for overseeing construction projects in their entirety.

Whitt also serves on the Bank’s ADA (American Disability Act) Service Improvement Team, which is one of the teams put into place to empower the staff and to help the Company achieve the highest possible levels of customer service.

Active in his community, Whitt coaches in Northumberland Little League’s T-Ball division. He volunteers his services to Habitat for Humanity. Whitt is a member, deacon, and trustee at Wicomico Baptist Church. He and his wife Billie reside in Wicomico Church with two of their grandsons, Bradley, age 7 and Ethan, age 5.

Roberts presented Whitt with a sapphire logo pin, a framed Certificate of Appreciation and his name was added to the Employee of the Year plaque displayed in the lobby of the Bank’s headquarters in Kilmarnock.

In making the announcement, Roberts noted that to become Employee of the Year is quite an honor. Roberts stated, “Ron’s dedication and commitment to service excellence has earned him the respect of his co-workers throughout the organization, from White Stone to Colonial Beach, as evidenced by the honor that has been bestowed upon him. It is because of employees such as Ron, with his knowledge and commitment to quality, which gives our organization the ability to provide a high level of service to our customers and greatly enhances our commitment to our community as the most complete financial services provider. We are most fortunate to have Ron as a part of our family.”
